This is an outstanding example of a Bulova Watch Company, #214 Accutron ladies pendant watch, Circa approximately 1962/1963. There are no markings on the outside back so I am not 100% sure of the case content. I am fairly confident that the outside bezel is 14K gold filled. I have had a couple of Accutron "experts" tell me that this model only came in gold filled. These same "experts" also tell me that the back could be solid 14K. I really don't know as it is unmarked but it is a slightly darker color than the bezel and just could be. There is sort of a circular pattern in the finish of the back. I’ve not seen this finish on any other model 214.
I assume the bail is also 14K gold filled as it matches the bezel color exactly. The chain is marked Monet and is probably gold filled as well, it is in excellent condition and is in the style of what would have been used in the early 60's. The crystal is blemish free and covers a totally pristine dial with a green gold center and a brushed yellow gold outer ring. The hands are perfect and finished in a bright yellow gold. By the way This is a stunning looking watch beautifully presented in early 60's styling. I believe these pendants are relatively rare and are not covered in any of the reference material that I have. Two factory $175 hang tags are included with this package. This beauty is humming along nicely on a relatively new #387S battery, it sets easily and is keeping excellent time. This movement was last serviced in October, 2004.
The factory presentation box is covered in a blue material and the rest of the interior is a gold tinted satin material. There is a spring loaded brass hinge to hold it closed and there is no other latch used. I am sure this is the factory box because on the inside of the lid is written “The Accutron Pendant by Bulova”. Overall size of the box is approximately 4½" wide x 7¼" long x 1¾" high. This it is a really neat looking total package, not easily found especially in this condition, and sure to please. Rated excellent as per TZ standards. $495 Questions? email me. *SOLD*
